Are you randomly doubling your bet because you don't know when to double down? We'll help you play the right way, increasing your chances of success at this popular game.
This popular card game allows you to make big money if luck and strategy (such as splitting or doubling down) are on your side. Your goal: your cards add up to 21 or their sum exceeds that of the dealer.
Deal of cards
After you have placed your bet in the box assigned to you, the cards are dealt to each and every player in the game. You will receive 2 cards face up in front of the other players, and the dealer will receive one card (if you play classic blackjack) or two cards, one face up and one face down (if you play American style).
Your objective is to beat the dealer. To do this, you must have a hand that scores higher than the dealer's hand, without the dealer's hand exceeding 21 on your final count.
You can also beat the dealer when the dealer's hand exceeds 21 points, even if you have scored less. If your total hand calculation is 22 or more, you lose your bet. If your hand is the same value as the dealer's, it is a tie and you will receive the money you wagered previously.
The best hand offers the highest possible prize. Tens, Jacks (J), Queens (Q) and Kings (K) have a value of 10 points, while Aces can take different values depending on your convenience: 1 or 11.
When you log in to your trusted casino, you will have the game instructions at your disposal at all times. You will therefore be able to consult them in case you have any doubts about how to play the game.
Place your bet and play
Once all participants have placed their initial bet, the dealer (who represents the banker) will deal. The goal you are aiming for is for your hand to total 21 (or close to that amount, beating the dealer's hand). The game of blackjack always starts with the player to the left of the dealer.
When it is your turn, you have a limited amount of time to decide what your hand will be. You can see this time by means of a timer that is automatically activated on your screen.
As a general rule, a maximum of 7 players play. If the dealer's hole card is an Ace, players can place an insurance bet for half their initial bet, protecting themselves against a possible blackjack combination (Ace + 10) from the dealer.
On your turn you have several options to choose from: hit (you will be dealt a card face up), stand (you stop playing the hand), double your bet (you receive an extra card in exchange for doubling your bet), surrender or split pairs.
Splitting cards can be done when you have 2 of the same cards. You can then split them into two hands, each with its own separate bet.
Once the players have made all their moves, it's time for the dealer to develop his hand. Whoever has come closest to 21, or got a blackjack, wins the game.
