Casino review / Caesars Windsor
29 Jul 1998
Review written by Sophie Couard, on June 7, 2016.
Windsor is the southernmost city in Canada and located on the banks of the Detroit River right next to the eponymous American city Detroit. The town has many attractions, and you can admire the downtown skyline, the impressive Ambassador Bridge, the beauty of the Charlie Brooks Memorial Peace Fountain and the magnificent architecture of the Dillon Hall at the University of Windsor.
You can also visit Via Italia, the Windsor Sculpture Park and Ojibway Nature Centre, as well as many art galleries. The town also has a large casino that is owned by the government of the province of Ontario through the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and is operated by Caesars Entertainment Group. What exactly the complex has to offer is outlined in the rest of this review.
A complete game selection
The Caesars Hotel & Casino in Windsor opened on July 29, 1998 and it fascinates with an impressive design that is similar to the famous Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The atmosphere of the resort reminds of ancient Rome and you can access the casino 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The casino is spread out over 9,300 m² and everyone over the age of 19 can enter. Visitors who appear to be 30 years or younger must be able to present valid identification, and those between the ages of 19 and 21 must provide two different ones confirming their ID.
The slot machines
There are over 2,300 devices accepting bets from 1 cent, and you can play:
- games where you get the chance to win a progressive jackpot,
- mechanical slot machines,
- video slots,
- video poker,
- video keno,
- video bingo,
- multi-game devices,
- electronic roulette games.
This interesting selection offers classic games, but also rare games, such as Titan 360. This particular game is a monster of technology and there are only 26 available in the world. The establishment is also the only one in the Ontario and Detroit area, and one of only three casinos in Canada.
The table games
There are over 80 tables with the following games:
- Caribbean stud poker,
- let it ride,
- pai gow poker,
- American roulette.
Especially high rollers will be happy to hear that Caesars Windsor has the highest limits in the Ontario and Detroit area. They are up to $50,000 for craps and roulette, $25,000 for blackjack and $15,000 for pai gow poker and baccarat.
The poker room is located on the second floor and you can play the following variants at 14 tables:
- texas hold'em,
- seven card stud.
There is something for everyone available, and you can play cash games and tournaments with blinds starting from $3/$6.
You can also enjoy a sports betting area called Legends Sports Bar. There you can bet from $2 up to $1,000 on 4 different sports disciplines:
- American football,
Many other things to do
It is of course possible to play casino games at Caesars in Windsor, and you can enjoy a comprehensive game selection. However, the games are not the only thing the complex has to offer. Just like the resorts in Las Vegas and Macau, the complex also offers many activities related to gambling, and you can find out more about them below.
The Caesars Windsor hotel is a winner of the prestigious AAA Four Diamond award, and a haven for luxury, finesse and comfort. There are over 750 rooms and suites starting from $169 per night. Each room offers comfort with a large bathroom and many amenities.
You are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining, and you can eat at the following restaurants:
- a self-service buffet (Market Buffet),
- a gourmet restaurant (Neros Steakhouse),
- mid-range places (The Artist Café, Legends Sports Bar, Taza Mediterranean Grill and Johnny Rockets),
- fast food (Pronto Café and Starbucks).
You can enjoy entertainment at the following facilities:
- a theatre,
- an indoor swimming pool,
- a gym,
- a sauna,
- a spa,
- many shops,
- four bar (Cosmos, ELYX, Bacchus Bar and Vu Bar),
- a nightclub (Ariius Nightclub).
In short, there is always something to do at Caesars Windsor, a casino that also has a very nice hotel. The casino will particularly make slot machine fans happy with their impressive selection and the rare game Titan 360. High rollers will also be happy about the high limits of the games.
