Atlantic city has two new casinos
The gambling industry in Atlantic City has some great news. The economic situation has improved enormously! There's even more news as two new casinos will open on the same day in this popular New Jersey location.
Many difficult years
2014 was a particularly difficult year for Atlantic City's gambling sector, as we reported in this post about the failures of Donald Trump's casinos. At that time, four casinos had to close their doors in the city: the Atlantic Club on January 14th and the Showboat, Revel and Trump Plaza within three weeks between late August and mid-September. Two years later, in 2016, a fifth casino (the Trump Taj Mahal) was closed.
The return in investor confidence
The difficult financial situation of the local gambling scene had an impact on many employed in the industry. The experts agreed that this would be the end of Atlantic City casinos. However, investors' confidence gradually returned and we even reported on 10th January that the city's situation will improve in 2018.
Two new openings on the same day
The improvement in the situation will be evident in a few weeks' time with the reopening of two new casinos on the same day. On Thursday, June 28th, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will open at the site of the Trump Taj Mahal and just one block down the promenade, old Revel will open its doors as the Ocean Resort Casino.
What will be the consequences of opening these two new casinos for the gambling industry in Atlantic City? Only time will tell.
