Spelinspektionen and Gibraltar Gaming Division sign Memorandum

By Sophie Couard
Swedish regulator Spelinspektionen has just agreed to collaborate with the Gibraltar Gaming Division.

Regulators often appear in our blog. Back in April it was the Danish regulator, Spillemyndigheden, who ordered that the country's internet providers block 25 online gambling websites operating illegally there. This time, it’s the regulators from Sweden and Gibraltar that are in our news.

The Swedish regulator Spelinspektionen has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Gibraltar Gaming Division (GGD) to cooperate in matters of mutual concern. This includes the exchange of information related to policy initiatives.

Collaborative approach to regulation

This Memorandum follows the one signed by the regulator with the Malta Gaming Authority.

This memorandum is part of a broader ambition to work with regulators in other jurisdictions in Europe. Given that many gambling operators hold licenses in Gibraltar and Sweden, the collaboration makes sense. A few months back, the Swedish regulator signed a similar MOU with the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), and so it's only natural that they should be looking for more of the same in the future.
