A 17-year-old Finn hijacked €250,000 from a casino in Las Vegas

By Sophie Couard

A computer genius has managed to exploit a vulnerability in an online casino.

Some honest players manage to win a fortune in casinos by, for example, winning a progressive jackpot, as has recently happened in Las Vegas. Other players however opt for criminal methods, such as robbery or fraud, to get at money in a casino. Recently, a computer genius exploited a flaw in an online casino to divert a lot of money into his own electronic wallet.

A 17-year-old Finn

The clever genius is still a minor! The 17-year-old Finn managed to bypass the security of an online casino last year and gained access to all outgoing payouts. He cancelled them and transferred them to his own electronic wallet. With this method he, in a month, succeeded in carrying out a €250,000 fraud!

MGA Malta

A casino with a Malta license

By diverting current payouts to his electronic wallet, the 17-year-old thief managed to divert €250,000 in a single month.

The name of the online casino that fell victim to the scam was not publicly disclosed. We only know that it is an online casino licensed in Malta. It took almost a month for the casino team to detect the fraud.

The players of the casino have not suffered any permanent losses. We can be reasonably confident that our recommended casinos Tropezia Palace, Cheri Casino or Lucky31 will not fall victim to this lack of vigilance.
