Germany may be regulating online gambling by 2021
Schleswig-Holstein is currently the only German state to license and regulate online gambling.
With the exception of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, no other state in Germany currently licenses and regulates online casinos in Germany. This has meant that the German market is still largely unregulated. This is despite a recent trend towards regulating the markets in Switzerland, the Netherlands and Sweden. Now it seems that the rest of Germany may finally be following the trend as well.
At the present time, Germany only allows sports betting. In 2011, Schleswig-Holstein took things to the next level by extending this to online casinos.
The need to license and regulate
Germans are now acknowledging the need to license and regulate the entire German market by 2021.
