Casumo and Videoslots fined £5.85 million

By Sophie Couard

Casumo has been fined £5.85 million for shortcomings surrounding money laundering and risk assessment.

The UK Gambling Commission can be the strictest regulatory body in terms of player protection. For example, it is very important to comply with the rules on transparency surrounding special promotions, but also the monitoring of dangerous gaming behaviour and the protection of addicted players at casinos. Unfortunately, not all casinos comply with these regulations and are then warned accordingly by the regulator and sometimes punished with fines. Some time ago, for example, the Rank Group and the casino LeoVegas were punished. Now it has affected Casumo and Videoslots.

£5.85 million fine for Casumo

The Casumo online casino was fined £5.85 million for a hefty fine because the players’ risk assessment had huge shortcomings. In addition, the UKGC has also complained that the due diligence of the casino on the confirmation of the identity of the customers was not sufficiently carried out. As a result, the casino could not guarantee that the sources of client funds were legitimate and risky gambling was not recognized in time. Casumo is now required to hire a qualified money laundering officer.

£1 million fine for Videoslots

Videoslots fined £1 million for misconduct in the detection of money laundering and player identity verification.

The £1 million fine for Videoslots came about as a result of casino misconduct in relation to money laundering regulations. The casino has in several cases failed to establish the identity of players who deposited and paid large sums in the casino.

The UK Gambling Commission has already warned and punished many casinos, and these two are probably not the last. Gambling protection and money laundering prevention are very important to us as well, so we only recommend the best and most reliable casinos, such as Tropezia Palace and Wunderino, to our readers.
