Casino review / Regency Mont Parnes
01 Jan 1971
The Casino Mont Parnes Regency is located only 17 km away from the city centre of Athens, in one of the most prestigious and idyllic neighbourhoods along Attica. The establishment welcomes you in beautiful surroundings in the heart of the national forest of Parnitha.
It opened in 1971, and is the oldest gambling establishment in the country. The casino is located in a luxury hotel, which opened in early 1960, but at that time did not meet the expected success. The operator then had the idea of adding a casino to boost the popularity, a strategy that went beyond all expectations.
The resort is modern and glamorous, and offers many assets to attract customers. In the next paragraphs you can discover what the resort has to offer.
A nice casino
The Casino Mont Parnes Regency in Athens has a modern and bright decor. Unfortunately, you have pay an admission fee of €6 to access the games room. The casino is open to anyone over 21 years, upon presentation of a valid identity document.
The slot machines
The slot machines are accessible 24 hours 7 days a week. There are around 700 devices from 1 cent available in the complex. Among them are:
- games where you can win a progressive jackpot, such as for example Party Time, Wheel of Fortune and Life of Luxury,
- mechanical slot machines,
- video slots,
- multi-game devices,
- video poker,
- games inspired by famous licences, such as for example King Kong, the Mummy and Sex and the City.
The table games
Those who prefer traditional games can find around 50 tables, including:
- 32 roulette tables,
- 16 blackjack tables,
- 2 stud poker tables,
- 2 punto banco tables.
The traditional games are open Monday to Thursday from 3 pm to 6 am, and 24 hours on the weekend.
There is also a nice poker room, where you can find 25 tables with Texas Hold'em poker, and you can participate in:
- tournaments with at least 10 participants,
- cash games.
First and foremost a luxury hotel
As I said in the introduction, before the establishment became a casino it was mainly a hotel. The hotel was opened more than 10 years before the casino was added. You can also find a restaurant and four bars. In the next paragraphs you can find more details about these amenities.
A fantastic palace
The rooms of the resort are close to the casino. You can enjoy 70 rooms and 6 suites in a modern and luxurious atmosphere offering an incomparable tranquillity and a wonderful view of the picturesque valley of Parnitha.
You can find Greek hospitality and high quality services in the 1.055 Café Restaurant that also offers stunning views over the whole of Attica. You can order European dishes and Greek specialties revisited in the light of modern gastronomy from the menu every day from 9 pm to 1.30 am. Wine lovers should also be satisfied, as the menu offers a selection of wines from prestigious vineyards in Greece and abroad and a good selection of grappa.
It is also possible to enjoy a buffet from Friday to Monday from 7 pm to 3 am for €19, and also from 1 pm to 6 pm on weekends. You can also simply enjoy a coffee or a cocktail from 7 pm to 2 am during the week, from 11 am to 3 am on Saturdays, and from 11 am to 2 am on Sundays.
Those wanting to take a small break between two game sessions can also visit no less than four different bars distributed within the complex. These bars offer relaxing moments in a friendly atmosphere, and a large selection of hot and cold drinks for reasonable prices.
There is also a shop in the lobby of the casino. There you can buy different snacks, candy, cigarettes and other things. It is open every day from 2.15 pm to 4.15 am.
Easy access to a prime location
The Casino Mont Parnes Regency is only 17 km away from the city centre of Athens, and located in a protected environment in the heart of the countryside, offering many walking trails around the area.
In fact, guests can use several special buses from Athens and Piraeus. When taking a taxi, it costs around €15 to travel to the hotel from the city centre. You can of course also use the car. Simply follow the national road Athens-Lamia to the exit Metamorfosi and turn left at the bridge to find the free parking lot.
I must also say that there are many things to do in the area. Athens is the capital and largest city of Greece, and the cradle of Western civilization. Visiting the heritage sites of the city are a must, and it is full of internationally known ancient monuments that are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. For example, the Pantheon, the Agora and the Theatre of Dionysus are absolutely worth visiting (...and so is the entire area!).
In short, the Casino Mont Parnes Regency in Athens is a very nice casino in an absolutely great location, with a beautiful hotel and an excellent restaurant. The casino offers some great games as well. Although the variety of table games is not very large, the poker room makes up for it, and the choice of slot machines is very good. Additionally, you can play around the clock on the weekend!
