Casino review / Partouche Palais de la Méditerranée de Nice
10 Jan 1929
The city of Nice is located between the sea and the mountains, and it has established itself as a first-class tourist destination. I must say it has a beautiful beach and several attractive places, such as the Promenade des Anglais along the coast, Cours Saleya, Garibaldi Place, the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, and the entire old town.
There are also a couple casinos that are interesting for players. The Barrière group welcomes you in the famous Casino Le Ruhl and the Partouche group operates the Casino Palais de la Méditerranée.
The Partouche casino has an excellent location on the Promenade des Anglais, right next to the beach and the Hotel Negresco. It is situated in an architectural jewel of the city: an Art-Deco building that has a warm and friendly atmosphere. In the following review you can find out more about the casino and what it has to offer.
An elegantly designed casino
As it is always the case in the casinos in France, access to the games room is only for adults (over the age of 18 years), and only to persons who are not prohibited from gambling. It is also necessary to present a valid ID.
The slot machines
The slot machine room is open Sunday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 am and until 4 am on Fridays, Saturdays the eves of public holidays. The good news are also that breakfast is offered in the morning when it opens, and snacks after 4 pm.
There are around 200 devices with bets staring from 1 cent. Among them are:
- games with progressive jackpots, such as the popular Megapot and the Megapok,
- traditional slot machines with mechanical reels,
- latest generation video slots with digital reels,
- video poker in different variations,
- an electronic roulette with 20 spaces.
The table games
The traditional table games are available Sunday to Thursday from 8 pm to 3 am and until 4 am on Fridays, Saturdays the eves of public holidays. You can play the following games at half a dozen tables:
- 2 tables with English roulette with minimum stakes starting from €2,
- 4 tables with blackjack avec with minimum stakes starting from €2,
- 1 table with ultimate poker with minimum stakes starting from €2.
The establishment also organises regular bingo sessions. If you want to participate you will have to pay €30 for 10 games, and you can play 30 cards in total.
Services aside from gambling
The Partouche Casino Palais de la Méditerranée in Nice is a real temple of entertainment and does not just offer a games room that has almost everything you might look for in a casino - except for a poker room - you can also find everything else needed to have a good time. You can have a drink, dinner, enjoy a show and even stay there overnight.
You can enjoy the cosy atmosphere and fantastic food of the Le Prom' restaurant every day for lunch and dinner. For example, you can find the following dishes on the menu:
- different salads (Niçoise, Caesar, etc),
- many different pasta dishes (penne with aubergines gratin, linguini with sea food, etc),
- vegetable soup, salmon tartare, etc, for starters,
- duck breast, steak, etc, as main courses,
- medium cooked tuna a la plancha, oven-cooked loup fish, etc, as fish dishes,
- crème brûlée, crumble pie, etc, as desserts.
You can also choose from different set menus, such as:
- the Prom' menu for €16.90 with a starter, main course and a glass of wine,
- the Niçois menu for €23.90 with a starter, main course and dessert,
- the Enfant menu for children for €12.
The Bar is located in the casino near the slot machines. It is open the same hours as the establishment, every day from 10 am. The casino closes at 3 am from Sunday to Thursday and at 4 am on Fridays, Saturdays and the eves of public holidays. You can order your favourite drink from a large selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic hot and cold drinks, as well as some sweet and savoury snacks. There is also a restaurant service offered for lunch and dinner, and you can order dishes from a menu that is identical to that of Le Prom.
The Espace Méditerranée is located in the basement of the establishment. It is a chic and brightly lit room in a design inspired by Spain. The area covers 400 m² and can accommodate a theatre room for 200 people, a cocktail room or a banquet hall. There are regular events at the theatre, among them comedy shows.
The Palais de la Méditerranée is a 5-star luxury hotel. It offers a beautiful atmosphere with a pool that is overlooking the sea. You can stay in a room from €144 per night.
In case the hotel at the casino is fully booked, I can also recommend the famous Hotel Negresco that is only a few metres away from the casino. This renowned palace is one of the jewels at the Côte d'Azur and offers rooms from €245 per night.
In short, the Partouche Casino Palais de la Méditerranée in Nice does not have a poker room, and some may also find that is suffers a bit from the competition of Le Ruhl which has the larger game selection, but on the other side, the staff are much nicer and friendlier, and the complex manages to hold their position. It is a casino that is worth being discovered!
