Casino review / Moose Jaw
06 Sep 2002
The town of Moose Jaw is located at the Trans-Canada Highway, 71 km from Regina, the capital of the province Saskatchewan. Moose Jaw is a relaxing tourist destination, nicknamed The Jaw, Band City or Little Chicago. The town has many parks and attractions worthy of seeing, such as the impressive giant murals on the facades of the buildings of the business district, the famous tunnels of Moose Jaw that connect various buildings of the downtown, and also a few museums, including the Saskatchewan Western Development Museum and the Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village and Museum. There is also a large casino establishment in the town, and you can find out about it in the rest of this review.
A nice casino with a vintage design
The Moose Jaw Casino has an Art Deco design that reminds of the Roaring Twenties (America's 1920s period of growth and carelessness). The complex is very eye-catching and attracts a lot of visitors. But what does the casino have to offer in particular? This is what you can find out below.
The slot machines
Playing the slot machines at the Moose Jaw Casino is always an enjoyable experience, as the establishment offers a relatively large selection of over 1,050 devices accepting denominations from $0.01 to $5. The games are available every day from 9 am to 4 am, and you can find the following types of games:
- many games where you can win a large progressive jackpot,
- classic slot machines with mechanical reels,
- modern video slots with digital screens,
- video poker in many different variants,
- games inspired by well-known series, such as Flintstones and Big Bang Theory,
- electronic roulette games,
- electronic blackjack games.
The table games
Regarding the traditional table games, the complex focuses only on the most popular classics. The games are available every day from 9 am to 4 am, and you can find:
- European roulette,
- texas hold'em bonus,
- three card poker,
Let me conclude by saying that this casino can be accessed by everyone over the age of 19 years, and it is necessary to present one or two pieces of identification.
Other activities at the casino
As you could gather from the paragraphs above, it is possible to play a huge selection of classic casino games at the Moose Jaw Casino. However, this is not everything the casino has to offer. You can also enjoy other activities at the establishment and visit a bar-restaurant or a theatre. You can find out more about them in the rest of the review.
Dining and drinking
The CMJ Express is open the same times as the casino from 9 am to 4 am. You can take a break from the games and clear your head there. You can order from a large selection of hot and cold drinks, with or without alcohol. On the menu are coffees, sodas, beers and cocktails. If you are a little hungry you can also find different burgers, salads or soups, among others.
The establishment also has a beautiful auditorium. The Mae Wilson Theatre presents all kinds of shows with a varied program that includes concerts, stand-up comedy, cabaret and magic shows.
Connected to a prestigious hotel
The Moose Jaw Casino does not directly offer their own accommodation, but the establishment is connected to a famous hotel. The Temple Gardens Hotel & Spa offers nearly 180 rooms and suites, and you can stay in:
- the standard double room,
- the standard queen room,
- the standard king room,
- the king room with balcony,
- the 2 queen bets with balcony,
- the luxury mineral jacuzzi suite.
The rooms have:
- wireless internet access,
- a telephone line,
- an iron and ironing board,
- a hair dryer,
- a mini fridge.
The hotel also offers these other amenities:
- an indoor and outdoor swimming pool,
- a spa (Sun Tree Spa),
- a restaurant (Harwood’s Dining Room),
- two bars (Morningsides Café and Bogart’s Lounge).
In conclusion, the Moose Jaw Casino is a very nice establishment, although it is not spectacular. There is not much to complain about, and the restaurant and the selection of slot machines in a casino of this size are great. Unfortunately however, the selection of traditional games could be better. It is also a shame that there is no poker room available. However, the huge selection of 1,050 slot machines will make fans of slot machines very happy!
