Casino review / Grand-Cercle d'Aix-les-Bains
01 Jan 1850
Inaugurated in 1850 by King Victor Emmanuel II of Savoie to make the spa town more attractive for the high society and European artists, the Casino Grand-Cercle in Aix-les-Bains had been installed in the palace of Savoy. It was designed by the interior designer Pellegrini, and is a major architectural ensemble that also reflects that the House of Savoie was among the major royal families in Europe. Today, the establishment is in the top 20 of the largest casinos in France in terms of turnover. In the review below, we will tell you a little more about this prestigious establishment for gambling.

The Bocca Club
The nightclub Bocca Club at the Casino Grand-Cercle in Aix-les-Bains is open from 11 pm to 5 am on Friday, Saturday and Monday.
The Italian theatre of the property is a beautiful jewel and a true masterpiece of 19th century architecture. It dates back to 1899 and regularly hosts high-class shows in their programme. The place has an interesting and original decoration, and it offers everything needed for high-class performances, conferences or events for an audience of up to 850 people.
The Casino Grand-Cercle in Aix-les-Bains offers no accommodation on their premises. However, you can find many hotels in the city. These include the Golden Tulip hotel with 4 stars, which is located right behind the casino.
Near the City Hall
The town of Aix-Les-Bains in the Savoie department of France is located 1 hour from Lyon, on the edge of the regional Natural Park Chartreuse. It is primarily known for the healing properties of the waters, which today have led to the resort being the second most popular in France, with nearly 30,000 visitors every year.
The Casino Grand-Cercle is located just few steps from the City Hall, and is accessible by train, which takes 3 hours from Paris with the TGV. You can also fly to the Airport Chambéry-Aix-les-Bains, the Geneva Airport which is 75 km away, and the Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport, which is 90 km away.
If you come by car, the casino is located near Lyon, Grenoble, Geneva and Turin in particular. Several motorways allow easy access to the town. There is also a car park and when you arrive you will see that it is a truly special place with a unique decor. You can see Egyptian frescos and antique stones in a magical atmosphere, also enhanced by the illuminated water fountain. An extraordinary adventure is guaranteed when you arrive.
A fantastic atmosphere
At the end of this review about the Casino Grand-Cercle in Aix-les-Bains, I would like to talk a little more about the general atmosphere in the casino.
Firstly, I would like to say that the building is absolutely beautiful. It was built in 1850, and it had its period decor perfectly restored. It is a beautiful place!
Located next to a green park and the historic city centre, the establishment stands out as a prime tourist attraction, as it presents illuminated water fountains outside, and a luxurious decor inside.
Access to the spacious lobby is free of charge, so do not hesitate and go see the beautiful and colourful mosaic ceilings and the beautiful statue in the parlour. The games room is also spectacular and has beautiful architecture, magnificent ceilings, but also a few modern elements combined with ancient frescoes.
In short, the building stands out as one of the most beautiful casinos in France. However, to protect the mosaics, the air conditioning is not very strong, which means that it can get a little hot inside in the summer. Furthermore, many of the visitors are relatively old.
The staff are very friendly, welcoming and pleasant. The reception is excellent, and not too formal. Employees are proactive and courteous, and they also explain procedures for playing different games.
The cleanliness in this casino is also to the highest standards.
In conclusion, we can only recommend that you visit the Casino Grand-Cercle in Aix-les-Bains, whether or not you are a fan of gambling. You can still enjoy the fantastic architectural marvel of a long history.
You can also enjoy a great selection of slot machines with the latest generation slots and a very decent offer of table games.
In short, this prestigious establishment deserves its great reputation.
