Casino review / Barrière de Toulouse
01 Jan 2006
Toulouse is nicknamed La Ville Rose - the Pink City! It is the fourth most populous metropolitan area in France, and also a popular place for tourists. Its characteristic architecture of the southern towns, UNESCO World Heritage Site listed buildings and the Cité de l'Espace attract thousands of tourists every year. Toulouse is a very dynamic city and a symbol of French gastronomy.
The city also has another attraction that might be interesting for you if you are a player: a huge casino. The Barrière Casino in Toulouse is relatively young and opened in 2006. It has been one of the most popular casinos in the country since 2010. You can discover what the casino complex has to offer in the next paragraphs of our review about it.
A great variety of games
You can bet your money in a very nice and modern designed casino. In order to access the games room you will have to be an adult of at least 18 years and not be excluded from gambling. It is necessary to present a valid identity document (ID card, driver's license or passport) upon entering the premises.
The slot machines
The room with the slot machines is open every day from 9 am to 4 am, and it is designed in many shades of red. It is stretched over 2 floors with a size of 1,500 m² in total. You can find one of the largest selections of slot machines in the southwest of France. There are 340 devices in total, accepting bets from 1 cent to €10. Among them are:
- games with progressive jackpots,
- traditional slot machines with mechanical reels,
- modern video slot machines with video reels,
- different variants of video poker,
- multi-game devices,
- an electronic roulette,
- an electronic blackjack.
The table games
The casino offers around 20 tables with traditional games. These are available from 8 pm to 4 am, and you can find:
- English roulette,
- ultimate texas hold'em,
- la boule,
- la bataille.
There is also a small poker room available in the establishment. It is open every evening from 8 pm to 4 am and has 4 tables with Texas Hold'em cash games with blinds from €5/€5. Another interesting thing is also that there is a progressive jackpot that you can win every time you lose with aces or better! You can also compete against other players in daily tournaments.
Dining, drinking and entertainment
As I mentioned before, the game selection at the Barrière Casino in Toulouse is very large and varied. To make the most of playing there, the establishment also provides some additional services aside from gambling. If you want to relax and take a break between the games you can take a seat and have a drink or some food. The establishment also hosts regular shows.
The Central Bar is located between the Café Barrière restaurant, the theatre and the slot machines hall. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the day, and is open every day from 9 am to 2 am. You can find a large selection of cocktails on the menu and enjoy them in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Samouraï Lounge Bar is open from Thursday to Saturday from 7 pm to 4 am. The bar is open to the outside and has large windows and a heated terrace overlooking the park and the river. You can enjoy a large selection alcoholic and non-alcoholic hot and cold drinks, as well as cocktails with fresh fruit, champagnes and beers. There is even a nice selection of Japanese spirits and cocktails, and you can enjoy typical Japanese dishes, such as sushi or maki.
The Café des Sports is located on the first floor of the slot machines hall and is open Monday to Saturday from 7 pm to 4 am, and Sunday from 2 pm to 4 am. It is the perfect place to gather with your friends and watch live sporting events 2.5 m plasma screen in impeccable high-definition picture quality. You can also order set menus from €8.30 with a Panini or baguettes and have a drink.
The Café Barrière restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and a contemporary design. It is open every day from 12 pm to 2.30 pm, and from 7 pm to 11.30 pm. The large windows offer bright and beautiful views, and you can enjoy a large selection of grilled dishes, themed buffets and regular events.
There is also the exceptional Fouquet's snack bar available at the Casino Barrière in Toulouse. It is open every day 12 pm to 2.30 pm and from 8 pm to 11 pm. The restaurant has a lounge design and a warm atmosphere. The menu offers many variations of traditional and modern cuisine, and the dishes are made with regional and seasonal produce.
You can also enjoy the entertainment of the large theatre that has an interesting program with comedy shows and concerts. The establishment also sometimes organises dinner shows.
Unfortunately, the casino does not have a hotel, which means that you will have to go somewhere else for accommodation. Fortunately, there are many hotels in Toulouse. These include:
- the Hôtel Le Clocher de Rodez starting from €59 per night,
- the Hôtel La Costure starting from €59 per night,
- the Résidence de Diane – Cerise Hôtel & Résidence starting from €75 per night,
- the Hôtel de Brienne starting from €90 per night.
In short, the Barrière Casino in Toulouse is very good. It has different bars that offer a pleasant atmosphere and the restaurants are also very good. The casino has a nice design and a good game selection as well. Overall, it is a great establishment for gaming and entertainment.
