My first thought when I saw the lovely blonde ferry in Magic Gems from Leander Games was how it reminded me a little of Tinkerbell from Peter Pan and while that’s where the similarity ends it created a warm fuzzy feeling given I enjoy children’s fairytale themes. What better way to design a slot than to blend the fantasy theme into a 5-reel and 40 fixed paylines slot where you could fly away with a chance at up to 500 coins per payline!

Fairytale sound and graphics
As mentioned above, the theme has the endearing feel of a children’s storybook starting with the stunning image that confronts you when you first start the game. The setting uses an astonishingly pretty green tint to reflect the trees, grass and even the fairy’s dress. The reels are not so much reels in the conventional sense because the symbols seem to hover. The lower level symbols consist of green poker symbols and though I am not a fan of them as I think they generally do not support a theme, I have to admit the green symbols wrapped in vines worked for me. From there we migrate to the higher paying ruby, emerald and diamond symbols, which glisten and sparkle. The music is soft and magical along with the accompanying sound effects. The animated hovering fairy to the right of the reel is a nice touch, blowing her magic dust to enchant the reels.

Fairy wild, exploding chains and treasure chest free spins scatter
The fairy wild symbol can appear anywhere on the reels and replace any symbol except the treasure chest scatter symbol. When this symbol appears three times on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd reel anywhere, the free spins feature is triggered. While active, the fairy wild symbols are locked in the position for which they appeared while the other symbols explode or disappear around them staying in place until there are no more wins. The exploding chains feature is a common feature to some slots where during any payline win, the winning symbols disappear or in this case explode into green dust with symbols from above cascading down to fill in the blank spaces. If a new payline is formed, then this feature loops for free until you no longer form a new winning combination.
