Review written by Sophie Couard, May 23, 2016.
Le Grau-du-Roi is located in the south of the department of Gard, on the border of the Hérault and La Grande-Motte. The town is the only maritime town in the department. The downtown area was built around the canal and connects the ponds to the sea. Beyond the historic heart, houses and holiday buildings are spread around everywhere: to the west is the district of Boucanet which extends from the town centre to the forest (also known as the Boucanet pine forest), and to the east, beyond the city centre, is the quarter of the palace of the sea of Port-Camargue.
In addition to beautiful sandy beaches, the town offers several interesting buildings, such as the old lighthouse that is topped with a copper lantern, the Maison du Dauphin, the villa Parris and the Castle Leenhardt. There is also the natural site Espiguette, as well as an theatre, a seaquarium and a museum of the sea.
There is also an interesting casino. The Flamingo Casino in Grau-du-Roi is the largest leisure complex in the Camargue with 5.700 m² of games, restaurants, bars and a theatre.
A beautiful casino
The casino has a pleasant atmosphere with an original and luxurious design. The Casino Flamingo in Grau-du-Roi is the perfect destination if you are looking for some distraction and the chance to win some money. The beautiful casino is accessible to all adults (18 years or older) who are not prohibited from playing games, and it is necessary to present a valid ID.

The Terr'Agua is open Thursday to Sunday from 2 pm to 2 pm for lunch, and from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm for dinner. It offers traditional cuisine that changes throughout the seasons and offers and you can find many original dishes on the menu.
The Restaurant Des Grands Jeux is open Thursday to Sunday from 8 pm to 10.30 pm and you can enjoy the atmosphere of the casino while dining. The restaurant is located in the centre of the casino, and invites you to try traditional and regional cuisine when you take a break from the games.
The Bar du Patio is located at the entrance of the establishment and has a removable roof. You can enjoy a relaxing time in a green oasis and feel the warm and friendly atmosphere while having your favourite drink. You can find a selection of cocktails and beers on the menu, as well as many other places.
The Bar Des Jeux is located inside the casino and it offers a great menu with many drinks and you can even order some sweet or savoury snacks if you feel a little hungry.
The establishment also offers a multi-purpose room with entertainment and shows.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to stay overnight at the casino. However, this is not really a problem, as there are many hotels in the city, such as:
- the Provençal starting from €101 per night,
- the Splendide Hotel Camargue starting from €116 per night,
- the Hôtel Le Miramar starting from €138 per night,
