Las Vegas Casino Strike
Dissatisfaction is growing within casinos in Las Vegas, which may mean that roulette tables and baccarat games may be closing in June. This is because unions have decided to strike, which if confirmed could start on June 1st.
99% of the members voted for a strike
The US capital of gambling, which is located in the middle of the Nevada desert, is threatened by a strike. This option to strike was voted in favour by 99% of the 25,000 union members representing Las Vegas casinos. This action could start on June 1st.
Negotiations going until May 31st
Currently, union members are in negotiations, ending at midnight on May 31st. A solution has already been found with workers who are not unionized, but the negotiations with the unions are still on-going. Negotiations include wage increases, job security and more effective protection against sexual harassment in the workplace.
Will the trade unionists get what they ask for? We should know the answer in the next few days.
