Sweden online gambling losts 10% of its gamblers
Although the Swedish online gambling market was fully regulated on January 1st, 2019, a study commissioned by the regulator last year showed that the proportion of the population participating in gambling had already fallen by 10% over the last five years.
A decrease of 10% over 5 years
The survey conducted in October 2018, before the January 1st 2019 regulation of the Swedish market, revealed that 66% of the 1,582 respondents said they had played at least once in the previous year. This rate did not change in comparison to the 2017 results. However, this number was 10% less compared to the results of 2013, which at that time revealed that 76% of players had played at least once.
Players are more careful
The most popular site among Swedish players was Svenska Spel, which was used by 60% of the players. It was also determined that, among other things, 59% of players set a budget online and 17% set a time limit. However, complete self-exclusion tools were rarely used on the other side, with only 3% of players using this option.
